Bus Safety Lessons: This week, safety trainers from the Transportation Department are meeting with all of our classes to review bus safety expectations and to practice bus evacuations. While we certainly hope that our students never have to use these skills, it doesn’t hurt to be proactive!
Trunk ‘r Treat: Our annual Trunk ‘r Treat is Thursday, October 22! We can’t wait to see many of you on our bus loop from 5:30-7pm!

Fire Drill: Our next Fire Drill will be Friday, October 23! During a fire drill, we evacuate the building, take role, and then reenter when we have accounted for all students. We can safely clear the building in less than 3 minutes and have all students accounted for in about 8!

Fort Zumwalt’s Elementary Schools are excited to continue their partnership with Fort Zumwalt’s Education Foundation in support of the Grow Your Own Teacher Foundation.
We ask you, the parents/caregivers, to join us in encouraging our students to be active, promote reading and practice being a good friend to all.
Students will be asked to read 26 developmentally appropriate books (30 pages = 1 book, if reading chapter books), complete 26 good deeds/acts of service and run 25 miles individually and then complete their final 1.2 miles on race day, tentatively Saturday, April 24, 2027. This will add up to a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles.
The program starts in October 2026 and runs through race day on (tentatively) April 24, 2027.
As Better Together Marathon participants, your child(ren) will:
▪Have a Better Together coordinator at his/her school- Ms. Chapie
▪Receive a journal to record each book, good deed and mile
▪Participate in a 1.2 mile fun run scheduled at Fort Zumwalt North High School tentatively on Saturday, April 24, 2027
▪Every Better Together participant will receive a t-shirt to wear on race day
▪Every Better Together participant will receive a medal after they cross the finish line on race day on April 24th
There is a $15 fee for your child to register as a participant that has to be paid either via FOCUS or by Check.
